Our Story

Naaru & Neeru is a unique children’s clothing company. In my mother's native tongue of Telegu, Naaru means sapling and Neeru means water. There is a local saying, "Saplings need water to grow". Water is to a sapling as love is to a child. Our children need love to grow. Give the child love and they will grow in grace and beauty. Give the sapling water and it will also grow in grace and beauty. Naaru & Neeru is a creation born of love to cloth your sapling. The majority of our garments are made using vintage saris and textiles. We choose our materials meticulously gravitating towards natural fabrics such as linen, silk, and cotton. Our designs are inspired by English-style dressing. Handmade in India, on the grounds of my mother’s former childhood home, each garment tells a story of heritage and sustainability. The blend of luxurious fabrics with classic English silhouettes creates a whimsical and culturally rich collection that celebrates the beauty of both worlds. Naaru & Neeru was founded by mother and I and worn with great affection by my daughter. Every piece is a work of art that reflects a passion and vision for elegance that in turn honors 3 generations of women.
